Artelo’s leadership in medicines to modulate the endocannabinoid system has led to a portfolio of three candidates, the most advanced of which is in cancer anorexia.

There is no FDA drug approved for this condition, yet it afflicts more than 60 percent of advanced cancer patients. Three to five of every 10 diagnosed cancer patients die of anorexia, not the cancer. Artelo’s candidate will report early data by year end, and topline efficacy data in 1H22.

Of additional interest is how Artelo came upon this drug candidate, and the reasons why its developer, AstraZeneca, gave up on it.
